What are dentures?

Dentures are removable custom-crafted oral prosthetics that replace your permanent teeth and surrounding tissue. They’re made of high-quality, durable materials like nylon, metal, and acrylic, ensuring they withstand the general wear-and-tear caused by daily activities like biting and chewing.

What are the types of dentures?

At Designer Smiles, Dr. Ospina offers several types of dentures, including:

Immediate dentures

Some people need extractions before they get dentures. If that’s the case, you receive immediate dentures. Immediate dentures are temporary. They aren’t custom-fitted to your mouth, but they protect your gums while they heal. 

When the technicians at the Designer Smiles Lab finish your custom-crafted complete, partial, or implant dentures, you return to our office and replace your immediate dentures with them.

Complete dentures

Complete dentures replace an entire row of your permanent teeth. They’re removable and can be designed for your upper arch, lower arch, or both arches.

Partial dentures

Partial dentures replace only a few of your teeth. They have one (or several) artificial teeth and a metal frame. The frame attaches to small metal clasps bonded to your existing permanent teeth.

Fixed implant dentures

Fixed implant dentures connect to dental implants. Dental implants are small, screw-like posts inserted into your jaw. Fixed dentures function like your permanent teeth. What’s more, you don’t have to remove them or soak them in a cleaning solution at night. Instead, you would visit Designer Smiles for a specialized cleaning twice a year.

Hybrid implant dentures 

Hybrid dentures are removable dentures that attach to dental implants. That unique feature allows them to be easily cleaned and provides a more sturdy attachment in your mouth, minimizing the risk of having your dentures fall out at inopportune moments.
